Our hosts in Jordan offer you a combination of international experience, local influence, a high standard of quality and warm hospitality.Your hosts have a great passion for this country and for horses and wish to share all its wonders and beauty in such a way that Jordan leaves an unforgettable impression in your mind and heart.
Jessica, originally from the Netherlands, worked several years in the incentive travel market, organising high quality programmes all over the world. Rami is a local from Petra who knows the area, all the special locations, the people and, of course, the language. Together, they are an ideal combination to help you organise your stay in Jordan. They have an experienced team, local and international, who will create a programme based on your personal wishes as much as is possible. They carefully selects the guides, drivers and other local suppliers to make your stay in Jordan as wonderful as they can.
They have ten lovely horses. Some are pure Arabian and the rest have Arabian blood in them. They are all well behaved and they enjoy working. In August 2007 the new stables were completed in the beautiful mountains with views over Petra and close to the Marriott Hotel. The area around the stables has good riding tracks and offers breathtaking views of Petra and the desert of Wadi Araba. From here you start your four and six day horse tours to the famous Wadi Rum Desert.

The accommodation is based on double/twin room occupancy. The hotel accommodation is usually the 3*Larsa Hotel in Amman, the 3*Petra Palace and at a 5* hotel at the Dead Sea. Accommodation during the horse trails is quite basic in tents on mattresses and basic washing facilities. This outside life experience is unique and in stunning surroundings. Just imagine - campfires by night and watching a bright sky with millions of stars!
Daily you enjoy delicious typical Arabic dishes like ‘sanniya’ (hot dish with vegetables, potatoes and chicken),‘maglouba’ (rice with spices and chicken or meat), meze (small starters such as humus, fuul, kube and tabouleh); a variety of meat and chicken; musakhan (chicken in olive oil and onion sauce roasted on Arab bread); and the Jordanian speciality mensaf (stewed lamb in a yogurt sauce served on a bed of rice). Most Arabic countries will not serve pork. Arabic unleavened bread (khobz) is eaten with almost everything. Other staples include deep-fried chick pea balls (felafel), spit-cooked sliced lamb (shwarma) and a paste of fava beans, garlic and lemon (fuul). There is often a barbeque and fresh salads and fresh fruit for dessert. Mostly the hotels have very good buffet dinners with also European varieties of dishes.
During the horse trail breakfast will be served with bread, olive oil and sater (cumin seeds and herbs), hummus, cheese, jam, eggs, tomato, cucumber, fresh fruits and cake, sweet biscuits that you can dip in your tea.
Lunches will consist of salads, bread sometimes a hot dish and sometimes a cold dish. Dinners will be served with soup, salads and typical Arabic dishes as described above. Dessert with fresh fruit and/or Arabic sweets such as baklava and knafa. Tea, water and soft drinks are included during the horse trail. Wine and beer are available upon request and for an extra charge. Beer is 3 JD and local wine 15 JD a bottle. Special diets can be catered for with prior notice.

Discover the breathtaking scenery of “Laurence of Arabia”. The scenery in Jordan is very diverse, breathtakingly beautiful and rugged. One of its natural wonders is the most impressive desert landscape in the world; Wadi Rum. This vast, echoing and colourful desert is a true paradise for nature lovers. The ride takes you from the mountainous area of Petra to the vast sand plains and steep rock formations of Wadi Rum. Day 1: You arrive at the airport in Amman and you are taken to your hotel. Tonight you have dinner with the group (depending on your arrival time) and with your guide who will inform you about your journey. Day 2: A three hour drive on the ‘desert highway’ takes you to Petra, a UNESCO world heritage and since 2007 one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Today you discover this historical city of the Nabateans. Tonight your hosts will meet you in your hotel and you can ask them questions about your tour. You spend the night in a good 3* hotel in Petra. Day 3: This morning the ride starts from the stables. Beautiful mountain paths take you to the little village of Rajev and the viewpoint of Dlaaga where you spend the night in tents. The pace is set by the experience of the group and by the area where we ride. Today you enjoy beautiful views over Petra, Wadi Araba and the village of Taybet. Day 4: Today you continue over mountain paths and through valleys where many Bedouin families still live, so there is a great possibility that you see their typical tents or that you see them herd their goats and sheep over the mountains. In the course of this day the area becomes flatter so the pace can be raised and from here you can already see the famous Wadi Rum desert. You spend the night close to Abbasyia in tents. Day 5: This morning you ride to Humayma where you dismount and lead your horse safely to the other side of the highway. You are now in the north part of Wadi Rum; here the excellent sand roads are perfect for relaxed trotting and cantering. You spend the night in the area of the Gharaza Bridge in tents. Day 6: Enjoying the view, the bizarre rock formations, the dunes and the numberless colours of the sand you ride through the breathtaking scenery of “Laurence of Arabia”. In the late afternoon you arrive in Disi where you say goodbye to the horses and to the local team. You spend the night at the Oasis Desert Camp where you can wash away all the dust and the sand of the desert and where you enjoy a nice dinner. Day 7: After breakfast in the Oasis Desert Camp you have a transfer to the Moevenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea where you enjoy floating in the Dead Sea; the lowest body of water on earth and one of the most spectacular and spiritual landscapes in the world. Tonight you have dinner and you spend the night in this very luxurious 5* hotel. (Based on availability) Day 8: This is the end of a fantastic horseriding holiday. You may have a transfer from the hotel to the airport in Amman or you may wish to stay a little longer. We can arrange for you to have further time exploring Jordan - our hosts in Jordan are experts at arranging trips, excursions and hotels to suit your requirements. Please ask at the office and we will be happy to help with your arrangements. |
