Ride Description

This ride is ideal for those seeking an adventure and wanting to experience the life and culture if true nomads. It is the ultimate chance to become acquainted with Mongolian customs, unique landscapes, lifestyle differences between modern and nomadic Mongolians and historical and cultural hot spots from the back of real Mongolian horses. You will experience stunning and varied terrain, rich in flora and fauna. Most of Mongolia is wide open steppe grasslands in transition with the arid lands of Gobi Desert. Forests support a host of wild animals including wolf, boar, elk, deer, antelope and the brown bear. Steppes and forest margins are home to marmot, muskrat, fox, steppe fox and sable. Remote mountains have wild cats such as lynx and snow leopard and Mongolia is also home of the wild ass, wild camel, and wild sheep. As you can imagine, there is much to see here! Bird life is also rich and plentiful with potential sightings of the golden eagle, bearded vulture, and other birds of prey, while the 2,000 lakes are a magnet for water birds and also support unique types of fish.

Mongolia is one of the greatest lands for horse riding tours, with it being one of the most popular attractions. History records how the legendary Mongolian horses covered half of the world in serving their Great Genghis Khan. There are more than 2.5 million horses in Mongolia with horseback riding being one of the best ways to discover the wonders of this magical land. The Mongolian horse is also a very well respected symbol of good luck. They are small in stature (no taller than 15hh) but they are very strong, with amazing stamina and a kind nature. In the countryside, nomadic children learn to ride a horse from the age of three years and often take part in horse racing competitions.

Located in the heart of eastern Asia, Mongolia is a country with a long and rich history which has long fascinated the world. It has a spectacular natural beauty and is a land of contrasts, a land which can offer all kinds of visitor an enjoyable holiday. Food & Accommodation

On arrival guests will stay in a twelve storey, twin-tower hotel, ideally situated on seven acres of land in the heart of Ulaanbaatar's business, entertainment and shopping district. The city centre, main cultural attractions, and state institutions are only a five minute walk away. The Hotel is also within walking distance of many tourist attractions, restaurants and shopping complexes. A convenient destination located 19 km from the airport and 2 km from the railway station. All the rooms and suites have undergone refurbishment and include high speed internet access, balconies and cable television with 45 international channels.

Whilst on the riding tours, much of your time is spent camping, where you will be provided with all camping equipment.

Breakfast consists of bread, sausage, cheese, bread, jam, butter, tea and coffee. Lunch is often salads, bread and preserves. Meals tend to be European dishes including eggs, milk products, soup, meat and vegetables.

 

Activities

Non riders are welcome, they can travel in the support vehicle, visit the nomad families, explore the areas, walk and sight-see.

When not in the saddle, riders tend to be tired from their long and exciting days ride but there are opportunities to play sports, tend to a fire, sit around the fire to enjoy a relaxed chat or a good sing and dance.

Orkhon Valley ride



From the back of your horse you will enjoy the scenery and visit nomadic families to experience their daily life and culture. You will also learn to admire the culture of the riding steppe people, who are born to the saddle. Attractive sites on this trail includes the ancient capital city of Genghis Khan, Kharkhorum and Erdenezuu monastery. This trail offers a mix of fabulous horse riding over eight days with sight-seeing and culture.

Day 1:
Today you arrive in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia. You will be transferred to the hotel, where you will spend the night. The afternoon is spent sightseeing, visiting places such as, Gandan monastery, Sukhbaatar square and the national historical museum. Overnight in hotel.

Day 2:
Following breakfast your day will start in the early morning. Your driver will drive you to Bayangobi along the Elsen tasarkhai sand stretch, lying in the middle of Central Mongolian grass land. Overnight in tent with dinner.

Day 3:
Today you will be driven to Kharakhorum, the ancient capital city of Great Mongolia and it was established in 1220. There you will visit the Erdenezuu monastery. This was the first Buddhist monastery and erected on the initiative of Abtai San Khan (one of the Mongolian kings) in 1586 in Kharakhorum. Your drive will continue to Harziin gol. Overnight in tents and full board.

Day 4:
The horse riding begins from Harziin gol to Shavar turuunii. Overnight in tent & full board.

Day 5:
You continue your horse riding from Shavar Turuunii gol to Temeen Chuluunii Am you will ride around 10km. Overnight in tent and full board.

Day 6:
Today you ride from Temeen Chuluunii Am to Mogoitiin Rashaan, and you will ride around six hours. Overnight in tent and full board.

Day 7:
On this day you will ride from Mogoitiin Rashaan to Waterfall taking around eight hours. Overnight in tent and full board.

Day 8:
Following breakfast you will ride from Waterfall to Tuvkhun Monastery which is one of the Mongolian oldest monasteries of Buddhism.

Day 9:
Continue horse riding from Tuvkhun monastery to Shakhlaga taking around seven hour. Overnight in tent and full board.

Day 10:
You ride from Shakhlaga to Teeliin River, about six hours. Overnight in tent and full board.

Day 11:
This is the last day of horse riding where you will ride from Teeliin River to Khaluun Usnii River taking around six hours. Overnight in tent and full board.

Day 12:
Your riding tour has come to an end and you will be driven from Khaluun Usnii River to Bayangobi by car taking around four hours. Overnight in Tent and full board.

Day 13:
Today you will visit the Khujirt river before you are driven back to the capital city of Ulaanbaatar. Overnight in a hotel. There is the chance to do some shopping and watch a folk concert. You will also enjoy a farewell dinner.

Day 14:
Following breakfast you will be transferred back to the airport in time for your departure flight home.

Western Mongolian horse tour



During this trip you will explore the mountains, which are permanently covered by snow. You visit nomadic families from the Mongolian ethnic groups of western Mongolia, such as Khalk, Uriankhai and Kasakh to experience their unique lives and cultures.

Day 1:
Today you arrive in Ulaanbaatar where you will be met by your guide at the airport and transferred to your hotel by car. After being shown to your room you will have lunch at the hotel. In the afternoon there is a city tour including a visit to the National History museum and Bogd Khan Palace. You can enjoy a fabulous meal in one of the Mongolian restaurants (dinner is not included). Overnight in a hotel.

Day 2:
The day starts by taking a domestic flight to Olgii - the center of Bayan. On arrival you will have lunch in Olgii followed by some free time to rest. Overnight is spent in tents with dinner.

Day 3:
Today is the start of the riding trail where you will be heading to Tsengel Khairkhan. This days ride takes about 8-9 hours. Overnight is spent in tents with dinner.

Day 4:
Following breakfast you will ride from Tsengel Khairkhan, a mountain ridge where there are many birds to be seen to Ustert, taking about 10 hours. Overnight is spent in tents with dinner.

Day 5:
From the lake of Ustert you will continue your riding to Kupe, around 9 hours. Overnight is spent in tents with dinner.

Day 6:
From Kupe you ride to Chikhertei taking around 9 hours. You will visit a kazakh family there. Overnight is spent in tents with dinner.

Day 7:
Your ride continues from Chikhertei to Yolt about 8 hours long. There you will visit local, kazakh family to experience their lifestyle and hospitality. Overnight is spent in tents with dinner.

Day 8:
After breakfast you will ride from Yolt to Uitas about 9 hours long. Today you really get to enjoy the landscape and wildlife. Overnight is spent in tents with dinner.

Day 9:
Today's ride takes you from Uitas to Sagsain Khawtsal about 10 hours. There you can visit a local nomadic family. Overnight is spent in tents with dinner.

Day 10:
From Sagsain Khavtsal you will ride to Khulziit, taking about 10 hours. Overnight is spent in tents with dinner.

Day 11:
This is the last day of your riding and today you will ride from Khultsiit to Tolbo Lake about 9 hours long. Overnight is spent in tents with dinner.

Day 12:
Early in the morning you will go from Tolbo Lake to Olgii by car 75km (about 2 hours). Overnight is spent in tents with dinner.

Day 13:
You will need to take a domestic flight from Olgii to Ulaanbaatar, where you can do some shopping, watch a folk concert and have dinner (dinner not included). Overnight in hotel. B. and L.

Day 14:
Following breakfast you will be transferred back to the airport in time for your departure flight.

Khuisiin Naiman Nuur



This is a truly adventurous experience, making it a dream trip for the advanced rider. During this extreme trail ride you will go from Kharkhorum, the ancient capital city of great Genghis Khan’s Mongolia, to the beautiful Orkhon waterfall. The riding begins at the Orkhon waterfall, around the Khuisiin Naiman Nuur before you continue high up in the mountains, over varying terrain. You can admire the beauty of the Mongolian nature as well as the unique culture and lifestyle of nomadic families.

The central region of Mongolia exhibits beautiful scenery, nature reserves, the Ancient capital of the great Mongol Empire and religious centre, Erdenezuu Monastery, picturesque countryside surrounding the eight beautiful lakes, and a visit to a local horse breeding family. Attractive sites include the ancient capital city of Genghis Khan, Kharakhorum and volcanic area near the Lake of Naiman nuur.

Day 1:
Arrive in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city where you will be transferred to the hotel, where you will spend night. The afternoon is spent sightseeing visiting places such as, Gandan monastery, Sukhbaatar square and the national historical museum. Overnight in hotel. L. and D.

Day 2:
In the early morning you transfer from Ulaanbaatar to Kharkhorum by car, 350 km about 6-7 hours. On arrival you visit the Erdenezuu monastery, built in 1568 from the debris of the destroyed city of Karakorum. Overnight in tent & full board.

Day 3:
You head for Kharkhorin via the Shankh monastery and Khujirt to Orkhon waterfall. Overnight in tent & full board.

Day 4:
Today is the start of the horse riding tour from Orkhon waterfall to Tsagaan Azargiin Nuur. The riding will take about 6-7 hours. Overnights in tent & full board.

Day 5:
The riding will continue from Tsagaan Azargiin Nuur to Duruu nuur. From today the luggage will be carried by yaks during the riding. The riding will take about 6-7 hours. Overnight in tent and full board.

Day 6:
Today you go from Duruu nuur to Khuisiin Naiman Nuur, Shireet lake, one of the most attractive rivers in Mongolia. The riding will take about 5 hours. Overnight in tent and full board.

Day 7:
From Shireet lake your riding will continue along the eight lakes, Shireet, Bugat, Shanaga, Khuis, Duruu, Togoo, Khajuu, Khayaa. The riding will take about 8 hours. Overnight in tent and full board.

Day 8:
Today you return to Tsagaan Azargiin Nuur. It will take about 6-8 hours. Overnight in tent and full board.

Day 9:
You will ride from Tsagaan Azargiin Nuur back to Orkhon waterfall, takes around 6 hours. Overnight in tent and full board.

Day 10:
You will ride from great Orkhon waterfall to Tuvkhun monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in Mongolia. This will take 8-9 hours. Overnight tent and full board.

Day 11:
Today is the end of the riding tour. You will ride from Tuvkhun monastery to Teegiin river about 8-9 hours. Overnight in tent and full board.

Day 12:
After breakfast your driver will transfer you to Bayangobi via Khujirt. Overnight in tent and full board.

Day 13:
You will go back to Ulaanbaatar in early in the morning by car. In Ulaanbaatar you can do some shopping and enjoy a farewell dinner with the group. Overnight in hotel.

Day 14:
Following breakfast you will be transferred back to the airport in time for your departure flight.
