Ride Description

This holiday destination is owned by three horse enthusiasts: Paulina, Maria and Michal. For many years they have been sharing their lives with horses and taking part in equine events and adventures in Poland. They decided to share their experience and love of Poland and their horses.

Here you are offered a riding holiday in the midst of nature. Absolutely breathtaking countryside in forest and beautiful mountains. You will ride on centuries old tracks where you will still be able to meet wild animals, including deer and wild boar, and where the surrounding forest provides a home to many birds.

This is an opportunity to totally relax on horseback and enjoy the riding. Your surefooted horse will enable you to forget about the outside world for these few days of peace. Once you are so full of delicious food and are ready to sleep, the trail guide often makes a bonfire where stories and laughter circle around long into the night. Mysterious trails, fabulous forests, immense meadows, murmuring streams, equestrian adventures in Poland that will stay in your mind for the rest of your life.

The horses here are well trained, experienced in mountain wandering and even tempered. They are used to a traveller's life and this makes them strong and brave. Each horse has its own unique character which makes the relationship between them and their rider double rewarding.

Food & Accommodation

The accommodation is basic and on farms, in lodges and hostels. The communal atmosphere promotes the integration of the group. For the Pieniny - Jaworki ride you will stay in a guest house each night, this offers basic dormitory style accommodation.

The food is healthy and delicious with local produce, mostly organic, bought from local farmers. The meals served are tasty Polish specialities. Picnics are taken on long rides.

 

Activities

This is an area which will suit nature lovers and those interested in history. Photographers and walkers will be able to take advantage of their beautiful surroundings.

Good infrastructure, numerous tourist routes and roads allows for easy travel on foot or by bicycle as well as on horseback or by car.

You can visit the 14th century castle in Niedzica, a real pearl of the area located next to the lake. On the opposite side of the lake there are ruins of a second castle, Czorsztyn Castle. You can even take a cruise on the lake!

Are you a music lover? If so then you are welcome to spend evenings in a special place called Music Sheep Farm. Although this may sound strange, this Jaworki music club is famous all over Poland and is visited by great jazz, blues and rock musicians from all over the country.

If you are looking for other things to wear you out, if you are not already tired after riding, then you can walk in the mountains, ride a bike or try nordickwalking. You can also visit the health resort of Szczawnica or Zakopane, the capital of these Polish mountains. Should you prefer indoor activities then you can visit AquaCity in Poprad or Bukowina Tatrzanska - a geothermal complex with 6 indoor pools, 6 outdoor pools and beautiful views over the Tatra mountains.

Programmes


Castle & Country



This trail takes place in a region called the Jurassic lime reef. You will be following a trail known as the 'Eagles Nest Trail'. You will discover ruins of many XIVth and XVth century castles along the way. The trail will pass through untouched countryside on beautiful paths, with many opportunities for infinite gallops. On the last day you will cross the expansive desert of Bledowka, also known as the Polish Sahara. You will eat delicious traditional Polish food along the way.

Day 1:
After arriving in Slawkow, the village where the trail begins, you will ride to the Orogzieniec Castle. The horses will be left to graze whilst the riders climb up to explore the remains of this famous medieval castle. Climbing up the limestone rocks which surround the castle, you will stand at the summit (504m) and marvel at the panoramic view of the Krakow Upland. You will have a chance to explore the towers of this imposing fortress.

You will continue onto Karlin to spend the night.

Day 2:
After breakfast you will set out along the trans-jurassic horse trail. The trail passes by the castles of Mirow and Bobolice.

The two castles stand just a short distance from each other, amongst limestone, and within lush green flora. Legends have been written about the history of these castles, which you can lose yourself in as you explore the ruins.

Day 3:
On the third day you will visit the 14th century castle of Olsztyn. It was built by King Casmir the Great. After exploring the castle the trail will lead riders around the outskirts of Czestochowa, known as the spiritual capital of Poland.

Day 4:
Today you will head towards Rzedkowice. The trail will pass through beautiful untouched countryside and give riders a chance to admire the picturesque scenery.

Day 5:
After a hearty breakfast you will begin a trail back to Karlin. The horses will take you galloping along beautiful sandy paths with marvelous views of the countryside.

Day 6:
The last day of the trail will be spent galloping across the Bledowka Desert, also known as the Polish Sahara. Galloping across these wind-born sands, you will feel transported to a world of nomads.

Accommodation: The accommodation for this trial is simple, dormitory style sleeping on agricultural farms, foresters lodges or local hostels. Meals are served in or close to the nights accommodation and during the day, picnics are provided. All food is traditional, delicious, Polish food.

Pieniny - Jaworki 7 day stay



This fabulous ride takes you on an adventure through the Pieniny Mountains. The area here offers a great choice of paths and trails which allow endless wandering through the small Pieniny Hills and into stunning meadows, from where you are able to see great views of the region. This holiday also features a fabulous raft trip down the Dunajec River Gorge - this water channel twists amongst the mountain slopes and will impress you by allowing you to admire the majestic elevations dominating either side of the river.

This area has a rich fauna with coniferous trees growing over the steepest of rocks. The immense meadows of the region feature pretty wild plants and are inhabited by herds of domesticated horses and sheep. The Pieniny are also famous for their numerous charming old villages, the biggest of which is Szczawnica, a health resort. There you will find a pump room which has been known for the curative characteristics of its water since XVI century. The area specialises in the treatment of allergy related respiratory conditions.

Just in front of the guest house are the small but pretty stables where your horse adventure will begin.

Day 1:
Riders are introduced to their horses and matched to the most suitable one for them. After a short while in the arena, the exploration of countryside on horseback begins (1.5-2 hours spent in the saddle).

Day 2:
Today you take part in the Dunajec River Raft Trip from Sromowce Wyzne Katy to Szczawnica (total route length: approx. 18km. time of route: approx. 2 hours 15 mins). After this you can visit the health resort at Szczawnica.

Day 3:
Today you will spend two hours in the saddle getting used to your wonderful surroundings.

Day 4:
Today's ride (2 hours in the saddle) offers some great galloping opportunities and you have the chance to ride along mountain paths with beautiful views of the mountains. A narrow path takes you to Palenica Mountain where you can enjoy fantastic views of the best known peak in the area - Mt Trzy Korony (Three Crowns).

Day 5:
Today you will continue exploring the region on horse back (2 hours in the saddle). The wild surroundings of the landscape make this a special experience for everybody.

Day 6:
Today you will spend the whole day with the horses. The adventure starts early in the morning and after three hours in the saddle, you will stop for a well-deserved lunch break. Once you are rested and refreshed then you will ride a gentle circuit which will return you back to base (3 more hours in the saddle).

Day 7:
Today marks the last day of your trip - you will spend a last two hours in the saddle, bidding farewell to the horses, meadows and forests. Although it is not always easy to say goodbye, all that you will see and experience will hopefully become fond memories for you to cherish.

The village is famous for its late eighteenth-century wooden church which is an example of the Lemkos architectural style.
Breakfast and a three-course dinner are served at the guest house. Dinner features soup, a main meal and a dessert. Lunches will be taken at suitable places throughout the day, dependent on your activities. There is a restaurant in Jaworki serving Polish traditional food, should you like to try it, or you are welcome to fish for your dinner at a special place should you prefer!

Bieszczady trail



In the mountains, in the South-East of Poland, you will be visiting some of the most beautiful countryside in Poland. It is almost uninhabited, and a paradise for those seeking isolation. Days spent galloping through meadows and hills and exploring typical regions will leave you hungry for a delicious hearty meal in the evening and a good relax around the campfire. The flora and fauna in this region is spectacular and you may spot bears, foxes, deer and wolves along the trail.

Day 1:
On day 1 of the programme, you will meet the guides and other riders and horses in Sanok. Departure is at 11am and you will head out towards the south into the countryside. You will spend time becoming comfortable in the saddle of your horse, discovering the beautiful surroundings and the severe countryside.

The first nights accommodation will be in Wola Piotrowa.

Day 2:
A hearty breakfast will be taken, followed by heading out towards Lipowiec. You will pass through Surowiczne Clearings where people pasture one of the toughest polish horses: Huculy.

Day 3:
After spending the night in Lipowiec, you will eat breakfast and head out into the forests along the Polish-Slovakian border. You will pass through an old almost deserted village called Jasiel and spend the night in the old local school turned guest house.

Day 4:
Today the trail will take you into the beautiful Zrodliska Jasiolki nature park. The park is home to many species of flora and fauna. These include bears, wolves and lynxes. The night will be spent in Lesko. There are many attractions to visit in Lesko including a castle, 16th century synagogue, and a large Jewish cemetery.

Day 5:
On the fifth day you will be visiting Bezmiechowa aero-club. Established in 1918, you will be able to see how the gliders take off and land. The accommodation for tonight is in an extraordinary wooden, sculptured cottage in an extremely remote location.

Day 6:
Breakfast will be enjoyed in the wooden cottage. As you head back towards Sanok on your last day you will be given a last chance to gallop through the breathtaking countryside.

Pieniny - Mountain and Country



Pienny national park is famous throughout Poland for it's breathtaking scenery. It has many paths and trails winding round the countryside. The horses are very familiar with the area and you will explore the hills and meadows of the area, perfect for infinite gallops. Nature lovers will adore the coniferous forests growing over rocks and wild animals are often spotted on the meadows as well as domestic flocks of horses and sheep. Pienny has numerous charming small villages and is famous for it's production of Oscypek which is a traditional Polish cheese.

Day 1:
Riders meet in the village of Rytro in the morning. You will meet the guides, horses and companions for the week. Each person will be matched up with their most suitable horse.

The weeks trail will begin with a ride up the mountain Przechyba. A picnic lunch will be eaten at the top before descending down into the village of Jaworki, right in the heart of the Pienny Mountains. In the village you will visit an 18th century wooden church. Later you will pass by one of the most striking tourist attractions in Poland, the Homole Ravine in the White Water Valley.

Day 2:
Today you are offered many excellent opportunities for gallops, riding along mountain paths with stunning views of the surrounding Pienny mountains. You will be led up a narrow path that climbs Palencia Mountain, where you will be able to view the peak of Mt Trzy Korony (Three Crowns) - one of the most famous mountains in Poland. The afternoon will be spent riding along the shore of a crystal lake, passing by a 14th century castle in Nidzica.

Day 3:
After breakfast you will depart from Nidzica towards Bukowina Tatrzanka. This is village lying at the foothills of Tatras on the Slovakian border. Passing through the village will give riders a chance to witness rural life, watching the families cultivate their plants and cattle using traditions that have been handed down for years.

Day 4:
The fourth day is spent picking through countryside and forest, watching sheep graze, soaking up the views of the hills and following mysterious forest tracks. You will eventually arrive at Sromowce Wyzne for the nights accommodation.

Day 5:
The trail continues along tracks weaving through the forest, meadows and farmland. You will wind down to Kroscienko - a lovely village on the banks of the Dunajec river. Horses will be allowed a long drink before crossing the river. White water rafting is very popular on the Dunjec river.

Day 6:
The last day will be enjoyed by all, having your last long gallops through the Polish countryside. The paths are beautiful, and the scenery stunning. You will cross streams and wind your way through the woods back to the starting point of the ride at Rytro. The evening will be spent around the campfire before before returning home.

Eagles Nest Trail



This trail takes you from Cracow, the countries capital to Czestochowa, the spiritual capital of Poland. The region is known as the Jurassic Lime Reef. You will be following a trail called the Eagles Nest Trail which weaves past dozens of old ruins of castles and battlements dating back to the XIVth and XVth centuries. The trail will pass through many forests and across large fields, giving you the chance to admire the flora and fauna of the area. You will cross the Bedowska Desert and be given the opportunity to visit the the famous monument of Paulin Sanctury in Czestochowa which contains the Black Madonna painting, believed to perform miracles.

Day 1:
The trail begins from a village near Cracow called Tomaszowice. Here you will meet your horses, the guides and the rest of the group. After a briefing on the weeks itineraries you will ride out into the Jurassic landscape surrounding Cracow and it's valleys. Carved out by powerful glaciers and rivers, each valley is different and has it's own unique appeal. The rocks and caves beckon to be explored. The Park is on the UN list of prescious reserves and certainly lives up to all expectations. You will be visiting XIXth century chapels and watermills and the ruins of two well preserved castles (Ojcow and Pieskowa Skala).

Day 2:
After a hearty breakfast you will begin by heading towards the Biedowska Desert (known as the Polish Sahara). On the way you will visit the 13th Century Rabsztyn Castle. After lunch you will enter the vast desert and follow it's border to a quiet village called Malobadz.

Day 3:
Another day spent in the Bledowska Desert will really give you a chance to explore the landscape and lose yourselves in it's legends.

Day 4:
On the fourth day you will return to the Eagles Nest Trail. In the afternoon you will climb the mountain of Janowski (515m) to visit the wooden city which has been built around the castle of Ogrodzieniec. There will be time to explore the ruins of this castle before heading for the village of Karlin where you will spend the night and a surprise will await you.

Day 5:
After a delicious breakfast in Karlin, you will set off, galloping along perfect sand paths. Today you will visit the Bydlin Castle. This was a sight for medieval wars, as well as fighting between the Russians and Polish legionaries during the 1st world war. Relics of the battle can still be seen around the castle. The last night is spent in Jangrot.

Day 6:
The last day will be spent slowly returning to Cracow. You will pass through the Ojcow National Park to marvel at it's beauty for the last time. You will have long gallops back to Tomaszowice, where you will say farewell to the horses and the group.
