A ranch road climbs from the San Bernadino Valley and the San Simon Valley in south eastern Arizona into a box canyon that once sheltered Apaches and puma. The ranch is surrounded by the Chiricahua Mountains, whose rocky peaks reach 9,000 feet. Headquartered at 5400 feet, the ranch is 12—20 degrees cooler than Tucson and Phoenix. Temperatures are conducive to being open year round, except the ranch is closed for the month of June and between Christmas and New Year.
This is ranch country, where generations of pioneering families worked and preserved the land. Today, this ranch land is surrounded by 500,000 acres of national forest and wilderness. Marked by a diversity of wildlife, flowers and trees, and a replenishing spring that sustains an intertwined ecosystem, this vast terrain offers expansive views south past Limestone Mountain and deep into Old Mexico.
This is an exclusive working cattle and guest ranch where guests can experience an authentic western lifestyle. The secluded ranch has ten very comfortable guest suites and activities here are centred around horseback riding. There are two working rides a day that last 2-3 hours. There are regular cattle drives and brandings 3-4 times a year.
There are no supervised childrens programmes and children need to be 12 years of age to enjoy this lovely ranch.
See Programmes.
There are ten double occupancy guest rooms—each with a private bath and with a variety of sleeping arrangements. The rooms contain a king, queen or full size beds. There are also rollaways to accommodate an extra guest in the room. The rooms reflect the guest ranch’s rustic elegance in every detail, including an eclectic collection of local art and memorabilia.
Each beautifully appointed room has a distinctive look—right down to the linens. All rooms have a stereo/CD player, hair dryer, a refrigerator and a coffee maker. We encourage guests to bring their own refreshments and alcoholic beverages.
To enhance the ranch experience there are no telephones or TVs in the room, although each does have a stereo with a CD player. Satellite TV. stereo and telephone services are provided in the lodge where you will also find a billiard table.
Three hearty meals are served a day, freshly prepared in the ranch kitchen and served family style.
Wake to the aroma of brewing coffee and baked goods fresh from the oven; join us for a traditional ranch breakfast of oatmeal, fresh fruit, eggs to order or other hearty offerings. For lunch and dinner, enjoy healthy, satisfying New American Cuisine, updated american classics making use of fresh, seasonal produce, prepared to perfection by our excellent chefs. Look out for pancakes and maple syrup.
Guests are encouraged to bring their own alcohol and snacks. Meals come with coffee, tea and lemonade. Each room is furnished with a refrigerator for the guest's convenience and ice is available.

This is a horseback oriented cattle ranch where there are two shorter rides of 2-3 hours or one long ride depending on the work schedule. As Sunday is a 'day of rest' there is only one morning ride to give the horses and cowboys a break. You will check cattle, inspect water sources, mend fences and patrol the ranch boundaries on a regular basis. Cattle work can also include pasture rotation, branding, weaning, sorting, shipping and bringing cattle to water and salt. All riding is contingent upon weather and conditions and if necessary instead of a ride, sometimes arena sports such as barrel racing, pole bending, team penning and cattle sorting are substituted to ensure you still enjoy plenty of riding. You will ride, relax and enjoy the horse you are on and the beautiful scenery. Head to tail riding is discouraged unless the terrain dictates. Everyone must go through an orientation course on their first day if you plan to ride. If necessary more instruction could be required. Lessons are available for the first time or experienced rider in all disciplines of western riding. |
