Based riding holidays involve staying in one place and riding out from the riding centre or base each day, returning there again afterwards. The alternative is trail rides where you move from point to point, staying at different locations each night.
Based rides allow for great flexibility in your riding holiday as they may involve tuition in a variety of disciplines, hacks out or perhaps a combination. Many based riding holidays combine tuition and daily riding with a short trail ride of perhaps one or two nights across the week. This can be a great introduction to longer trail rides. A wide range of budgets are covered with based stays as guests may choose somewhere with basic but comfortable accommodation or choose to take their riding holiday somewhere more luxurious. There are based riding holidays which can offer just one hour of horse riding per day or destinations which can see you enjoy full days in the saddle with picnic lunches.
The other benefit of based riding holidays is that non-riding partners, family or friends can remain at the base whilst you are riding, either relaxing or entertaining themselves with other activities. Riders can also combine their horse riding holiday with other activities such as skiing, watersports, hiking or perhaps visits to local hotspots. These two unique bush homes, Ant's Nest and Ant's Hill, are located on their own private game reserve in the beautiful and diverse Waterberg region of South Africa. This welcoming ranch is situated in the south of Hungary, approximately 80km from Budapest, and offers western riding tuition and trail rides (with western or english saddles) to their guests.
