This beautiful ranch is in the heart of the Canadian wild west where the cowboys drive their cattle and take part in the famous rodeos. This destination is one of very few where you can adventure through the Canadian wilderness alone if you like, the perfect chance to escape the stresses of daily life and work. The exceptional scenery and 'middle of nowhere' feeling you get on this ranch make for a fabulously relaxing holiday and provide a true chance to bond with your assigned horse. Lessons are available for beginners or those new to western riding and natural horsemanship principles.
The horses here are good tempered and well trained with a focus on natural horsemanship methods. They are kept healthy, strong and relaxed as they live outdoors all year round as a natural herd. There are plenty of horses here and you will be assigned one suitable horse throughout your trip, allowing you to build a rewarding relationship with this horse in particular (unless you would like to change for any reason). You can ride for up to seven hours each day either heading out alone, in a group or with a guide. It is this opportunity for riding out unaccompanied which makes this ranch so particularly special - their horses are so trustworthy that the hosts here have absolute faith in them to take care of you. In the winter time, when it is exceptionally cold, the horses live in the forests and are fed hay grown for them on the ranch. This is a working ranch where not only do they harvest the hay but they work the cows and calves from May to October. A great way to test your horse riding skills is to get involved in working the stock or to take part in the round up in Autumn.
The area surrounding the ranch is full of lakes, forests and wide open spaces and there is a variety of wildlife to be seen including bears, moose and coyotes. Should you choose to visit in the wintertime, riding is limited but the destination looks absolutely magical covered in snow and there are a variety of other activities available. It's a real treat to try out the snowshoes before snuggling up in front of the open log fire with a glass of warm mulled wine. The guesthouse is very welcoming with an open plan living room, cosy dining area and thirteen double bedrooms. Large groups are welcome.
A destination like this is rare to find - the free and natural style of riding available here, alongside the chance to ride out alone into this wild landscape, is becoming very rare and makes this a truly special holiday destination. You will never forget the relationship forged between you and your faithful horse or the feeling of the breeze on your face as you canter through the Canadian wild west.

The accommodation is in 13 double rooms in the guesthouse which includes an open plan living room with an open fire and a cosy dining room. There are four fully equipped bathrooms and one separate toilet.
Meals here are plentiful and tasty. Food is Canadian style, full breakfast (8am), ranchstyle lunch (12pm), and a cooked evening meal(6pm), mostly with meat (from own cattle), chicken, pork, fish, vegetables or salad and pasta, potato or rice, all freshly cooked. Vegetarians can be catered for, and a packed lunch can be taken on rides.
Watersports, swimming, square dancing, campfires, cowboy cookouts, darts and barrel racing are all available.
This is an area renowned for fishing. There are many lakes in this area and resorts specialising in fishing. You can catch rainbow trout or kokannee, lake trout and burbot. Boats and belly boats can be rented.
During the winter months, when riding is weather dependent, you are invited to try out snowmobiles, cross country skies and snowshoes. There is a famous rodeo held at Williams Lake, the first weekend in July, which guests have fun visiting. Twice a year on the first Saturday in July and August a gymkhana is held nearby which guests will be able to participate in.

The daily programme at this wonderful ranch is a great way to experience the Canadian wilderness whilst enjoying the companionship of a super horse. The package offers up to 7 hours of riding each day (except in winter) and once you are comfortable with your horse and the style of riding, you are welcome to ride out on your own, with a group or with a guide. This option of unaccompanied riding allows for a real adventure and escape from the troubles of everyday life. It also means that groups of friends can have great fun together, exploring the surroundings and getting to know their horses, whilst being somewhat independent. Of course, there are also excellent guides available who are happy to ride out with you each day and to show you around. Three good meals each day are included, as are non alcoholic drinks as provided, pool and darts. Guests are welcome to test their skills by helping out with the ranch work (particularly May to October) and each rider is assigned a perfect horse for the week. The horses are kind-tempered and the hosts can cater for all riding abilities, offering lessons for those who are beginners, nervous or unsure of western riding. All in all, a wonderfully flexible daily package suiting all riding abilities and offering plenty of activities for non-riders alike. Take the time to enjoy not only the riding and the ranch hospitality but square dancing, campfires, cowboy cookouts, darts and barrel racing. A true western Canadian experience! |
