Ride Description

The Israeli Adventure is a shortened version of the stables' signature ride, 'Tour Israel'. It has been designed to show you the best of Israel in a short space of time and for less cost. You will visit Mt Tabor and Nazareth, swim in the Jordan River, visit the site of the first Kibbutz, spend a day in the old city of Jerusalem, visit Masada and swim in the Dead Sea - all the highlights for a reasonable price.

There are four riding days to be enjoyed. The area is blessed with a rich history, distinct geographical regions offering incredible scenery and also an excellent climate, making for a superb tourist destination. Accompanied by skilled horsemen you will explore and live the authentic Israel, riding on one of their well-trained and cared for horses. This ride combines various different parts of Israel for the ultimate experience. It is a six night programme with two different geographic areas - a comprehensive and rewarding Israeli experience. The horses are transported between the areas so that you can see more.

The team taking care of you are professionals who specialise in riding holidays and who believe they are a wonderful way to learn about a country. Your guide will be a licensed riding instructor with a good command of English, an extensive knowledge of the riding regions and a true passion for horses.

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up from Tel Aviv with transfer to Moshav Sharona in the Lower Galilee. You will sleep in a cosy country lodge here tonight.

Day 2: Today is your first day of trail riding in the Galilee's beautiful natural landscapes. After horses and tack have been matched to riders you will head out from the stables in Shedmoat Devora to ride alongside the tributaries of the Tabor Stream, passing by Kfar Keesh. Eventually you will reach the Tabor Stream itself and will visit Tel Rechesh where some sources say part of King Solomon's legendary stables were located. You will canter through almond orchards and fields returning to Shedmoat Devora.

After a short break you will take a drive to Mt Tabor to visit the Church of Transfiguration. From there you will continue on to Nazareth for a walking tour of the holy sites and markets, taking time to enjoy the unique sights, aromas and tastes of this intriguing city. A delicious dinner is served in an authentic Bedouin village before you return to Sharona for the night.

Riding distance: 18km / 11 miles.

Day 3: Today begins with a ride in Sirin Heights, enjoying the stunning natural scenery with streams and springs. You will ride to the lookout point of Mitzpe Ayloat for breathtaking views of the Jordan Valley. Whilst riding in the direction of Jordan you will pass through Yaela Grove, a site where Jael, wife of Heber the Kenite, killed Sisera. You will then cross the fertile Jordan Valley heading for the river. You will cross the Jordan River (you can swim in the river in the springtime) and then ride on to Kibbutz Degania, the world's first kibbutz. There you will learn all about this unique way of life before returning to sleep in the lodge at Sharona.

Riding distance: 22km / 15 miles.

Day 4: This day is dedicated to Jerusalem! You will travel by car to reach the city, driving into the Old City following the Via Dolorosa, the path that Jesus walked on his way to his crucifixion. Along the way you will visit the holy sites of three monotheistic religions.

After the tour you will be driven to the Judaean Desert to spend the night in a special place - this is a camping night in a wonderful location. The camp is modern and equipped with hot shower, WC, an internet and good food. You will sleep in sleeping bags on mattresses.

Day 5: After breakfast it's time to start your desert adventure! You will ride east along Daraga Stream and then head south towards the upper part of the desert. You will cross Tekoa Stream and then will start to climb camel trails to Mutrida Ridge. You will try to find a water cistern here in the desert and can begin to understand desert survival.

In the afternoon you will ride back to camp. Later you will head out for a non-riding activity (it's a surprise!).

Riding distance: 27km / 16.5 miles.

Day 6: Another day of exhilarating desert riding lies ahead of you. Before sunrise you will set off through the expansive plains of the north Judaean Desert heights, riding until you reach cliffs overlooking the Dead Sea. From here you will head west, cantering in the Tamar Stream. You will reach the grazing fields of the upper desert (where King David used to walk with his sheep) and will then use an old donkey trail in order to ride back to camp for brunch.

After parting with your horses you will travel to the monumental site of Masada by car. From there you will head to the beach on the banks of the Dead Sea and, as a treat after days of hard riding, you can cover yourselves in the black mud here and go for a dip in the healing waters. Late in the afternoon you will be driven to Tel Aviv to sleep in a four star hotel there. Dinner this night is not included.

Day 7:  The programme officially ends after breakfast and so you have a choice of what to do next. You can stay in your room until midday or you can head out into this modern, vivacious city for sightseeing, shopping or visiting the beautiful beaches. The team will be more than happy to help advise you on what to see or to organise airport taxis for you.
