Trail, or point to point rides, are riding expeditions where you stay, or camp, at a different location every night. A trail riding holiday often means going without the frills with regards to accomodation, but this isn't always the case. Some nights you may be staying in a rustic farmhouse, other nights under the stars, but it might also be a luxurious hotel room.

Situated in the Alto Minho, Paredes de Coura district, this ride offers more than just equestrian tourism. The site provides guests with the opportunity to experience Therapeutic horseback riding as well as classes in a more natural environment. For the sporty type there are chances to try TREC (techniques of Equestrian Randonée for sports competition) and the centre has a large riding area with wild trails suitable for the handicapped. 1) Aparte Campero week: 19 to 26 September, 2010. This is a week of fast scenic riding combined with opportunities to work with cattle alongside gauchos, culminating in the "Aparte Campero", a traditional cattle cutting competition.

Extremadura (Spain) and Portuguese Trails, Portugal
These trails rides are a wonderful way to see magnificent landscapes and unspoilt areas of Portugal and Spain. Horses are homebred on a farm in Extremadura, Spain, and are well-trained and enjoyable mounts. There are several trails with the majority of time spent across the Portuguese border but some with a few nights spent in Spain. Riding is Doma Vaquera style (a traditional Spanish method).
Great South Ranch, Morocco
This Moroccan ranch is run by two french ladies, Caroline and Caroline, and is situated between the ocean and mountains. This destination offers tuition and trail riding on their beautiful Arab-Barbs and guests can enjoy riding on the beach and along mountain trails. The accommodation is bright and comfortable and stays here are accompanied by traditional Moroccan meals and music. Riding here is exceptionally good value.
