Estancia La Rosita (Corrientes), Argentina

We had an absolutely fantastic time at the Estancia. Alicia and Fernando are marvellous hosts and we cannot speak highly enough of them and the effort they put into ensuring we were able to do all that we wanted. Thank you for all your help in organising our stay.

Sally W.
One of the first things Fernando said when we arrived is that he wanted us to feel at home at the Estancia...and we did! Although that is not so difficult with such a lovely, welcoming family! Within a day we felt part of the family, including the gauchos. We could do everything we wanted to do, which was mainly: work on the estancia with the cows and the horses alongside the family and the gauchos. They even gave us the idea we really were a help. We loved the taste of the traditional gaucho-life (and Marola's practical jokes) and we loved the fast rides on the wonderful horses (thank you Patricia, Guapa, La Negra, Raton, Mercedita, Calla and all the other ones!). Even Peggy's argument with a cow did not stop us from having a absolutely great time. Thank you so much Fernando, Willy, Alicia, Daniel, Lydia, Marola, Cico, Lito, Gomez, Maria. You're in our hearts.

Catherine and Peggy
It was my favourite part of my whole trip away. It was a wonderful combination of very relaxing and high activity, I felt very well looked after and cared for. Great riding, great company, a real mixture of things to do - loved it!

Ros S.
We had the most brilliant time at Estancia Corrientes. Fernando and Guillermo (and the rest of the staff) were so friendly and helpful. We asked to "work" with the gauchos every day which involved between 6 and 8 hours a day in the saddle. Despite this we were never stiff or sore. A typical day was breakfast at 8:30 to be mounted up by 9:30. Four hours (ish) working then back to the estancia for a cold beer before lunch. A quick siesta then back in the saddle at around 4pm for another 3 or 4 hours work. Once back at the estancia we had another cold beer, a shower and then dinner with a quick review of the day's photos. Bed usually followed shortly afterwards. We were allowed to help round up horses and cows. One day the gauchos would bring down a cow after which we were given the chance to help treat the wounds which involved digging out bot fly larvae and applying antiseptic liquid. On several of the days the cows were brought into the corrals where we got involved in separating the calves from the cows. One afternoon we had lessons on lassoing after which we got to try it for real with some calves in the coral.

This holiday surpassed everything that I had imagined and hoped it would be. La Rosita is such an incredible location and Fernando and his family were the most incredibly kind, warm and welcoming people I have met. They ensured that I had the best experience through encouraging me to help out with the Estancia work, taking me for the most beautiful sunset rides, going swimming with the horses and playing polo... I had so many of the best riding experiences I have ever had!

Alice S.
The estancia is a proper working farm with local horses that are born into the herd. The gauchos are authentic, the cow dipping and calf tagging was authentic. The tack even had two girths - one to stay on and the other to attach the lassoo too.Through our week, we got steadily faster horses as we requested them. All of these horses were very well schooled so would stop on command, no problem. I know the horses were fast because we were playing polo in the afternoons and were going incredibly fast. Huge fun. We played polo with Fernando and the gauchos and we all had huge fun. We also took long rides into the country side to see the Capubaras and the birds. We also helped on the farm.

Los Troperos al Galope: Estancia to Estancia

This ride was designed for those who believe that horseback and comfort can come together in natural and beautiful scenery. This trail is aptly named after the Argentinian countrymen or "Tropero" who, many years ago, herded cattle along the paths which stretch for many miles through Corrientes. At this time the horse was Argentina's most important working tool. The Estancias encountered along the way provided the Tropero with accommodation and a hearty meal. This trail allows you to follow the paths of the Tropero, cover the same diverse landscape and view the same breathtaking scenery with the welcome addition of luxury comforts and sumptuous cuisine.

This trail leads you through the most diverse of landscapes including lagoons, forests, pampas, marshes, rivers and dunes. In addition to this Corrientes offers an array of flora and fauna, the attentive observer will see nandues, capybaras, foxes, rabbits, alligators and a great variety of birds.

On this trail the gauchos take along several horses almost 3 horses per rider so you will be able to try different horses in order to find your favourite. There is also a gaucho for every 2 riders as well as a bilingual guide. Your luggage is moved on for you in a support vehicle and the gauchos will carry your individual saddle bags on the trail so you may bring along what you need for the day. It is possible to gallop for long distances on this trail.
