Western Ranch (El Bronco), Hungary

Reviews

We both very much enjoyed our visit - it’s somewhere that everyone will be made welcome, whether they are single travellers, couples, families or groups of friends. A hen party would have a spectacular time, even if some didn’t wish to ride! You can have so much fun, we laughed a lot and really enjoyed ourselves. The professional staff will ensure that the riding programme is tailored to suit you. They can hone your riding skills and make sure you have a good time out of the saddle. I can highly recommend this trip to everyone who wants a truly relaxing holiday in or out of the saddle.

I found the holiday to be a great experience, extremely well planned and suited for all levels. (Favourite memory?) Cantering in the rain back to the ranch - the weather somehow made it more special. Very happy with the accommodation, I think I had one of the best rooms and can honestly say it was probably the best room I have ever stayed in. I was very happy with my horse and felt all the tack and equipment was more than adequate. Riding guides were all fantastic, even with the lack of English from one guide we were still able to communicate well.

I had a great time in Hungary and everyone was really friendly. Many a good conversation was had! The horses are very well trained and looked after and the accommodation was good. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for fun and a warm welcome. The weather was gorgeous too. Just wanted to say thanks for all your help and I'm hoping to go back again next year with a friend.

We loved our holiday at the ranch. They are fantastic. Roland really knows how to manage things and Dominika is simply loveliness and care personified. With this level of service plus the amazing scenery and great horses I would be happy to recommend them to anyone. Also thank you for your excellent service. It will be a holiday to always remember.

Excellent - very relaxing, excellent riding, brilliant horses, all the staff were very helpful. We also enjoyed visits to the bird reserve and the cheese factory - especially going in the carriage. Favourite memory? So many but one in particular was a very long canter - must have been about 3 miles - certainly felt like it!

Graham A.
Beautifully peaceful - very helpful and willing staff, high standards in all aspects of the holiday. Interesting diversions from riding were offered - e.g. bird watching, carriage driving, cheese factory, on site masseuse etc.

A wonderful time of year (May) with lush greenery and blossom and flowers, with beautiful, healthy horses, kind and humorous hosts, well prepared food and lots of unique experiences in between horse riding.

Amazing quality horses, very knowledgeable and friendly staff, high standard of care. Our accommodation was excellent with very comfortable beds and high quality linens. Our own lounge for evening partying was a huge plus. The standard of horses, their condition and temperament was exceptional. The western tack was of a very high standard.

Amazing experience, amazing horses, fabulous hosts, beautiful ranch. Favourite memories... cantering up a steep hill, lots of laughs, experiencing western style riding. Accommodation was perfect. Beautiful horse, well behaved and highly trained.

The perfect week away! Beautiful horses and accommodation, everybody on the ranch was very welcoming and friendly. The newly built spa was the icing on the cake! The western riding was a fantastic new experience. My horse was a credit to the training and skills of the trainers. Robert (instructor) was very knowledgeable and patient and I was very pleased with my progression of the week. I had a truly amazing week.

Sun, sand, spa… horses? At least three things you can expect to be wowed by at El Bronco Ranch, situated in the beautiful Kiskunsági National Park. The crickets are chirping, the horses are neighing and the jacuzzi is bubbling...

Whether you are new to riding or extremely experienced in the saddle there is something for everyone to learn and enjoy here, whether it be riding a well-trained horse through the western moves or simply exploring the beauty of the Kiskunsagi National Park, cantering along sandy tracks or listening to the birdsong. With a love of horses at its heart and a team of wonderful people at the helm, this is a ranch not to be missed.

Hard work and challenging but excellent fun.

Alysa M.
Fun, great first riding holiday! Lovely horses, funny and kind staff. The food was fantastic and the room was lovely and big, fab facilities. Robert (the trainer) is flipping' fab! As is Tibor. So funny, very good horseman and very good with clients, loved them to bits.

Gaynor M.
Fantastic fun, brilliant staff and wonderful surroundings.

Andrea R.
A great chance to learn western riding on well schooled horses, with good instructors who can explain the technique so well. Gabor was brilliant - really enjoyed his instruction and thoughtfulness towards the horses. Fun rides out on the doorstep. (Favourite memory) The longest canter I have ever done after a peaceful long walk along the quiet reeded trails. As a vegetarian, I appreciated that a separate meal was made, often a meat-free version of what the other guests had.

Sue H.
An incredible experience. For someone who didn't have any experience or strong interest in horses, the whole trip was enough to convert me. That says a lot really. (The guides?) Are great teachers. I learnt a lot, especially as a beginner. Friendly and easy to talk to. I'm very happy with the accommodation and food. Amazing furnishings with a homely feel, a fantastic wellness centre and a different desert for dinner everyday (maybe I'm easily satisfied!)

Mathew G.
I don't know what else to say other than that everything was first class. I had such a great time and truly enjoyed every moment.

Alex O.
Very good experience, lots of riding, lovely countryside, very friendly people. Accommodation very good and clean, food very tasty and filling. Plenty of it!

Kim G.
Awesome!! All aspects of this trip were amazing - right from pick up to drop off I felt well looked after. The ranch was intimate and beautiful. the rides, food, accommodation - everything was better than expected! the room was beautiful! Very clean, the design was lovely. the shower was amazing. The food was fabulous, great taste and variety. Pufi, my horse, was perfect for me. We were well matched and I loved riding him. the tack was well maintained and comfortable. The guides were excellent. They were patient and helpful. The instruction they gave was great and they addressed my needs very well.

Jennifer T.
The holiday was just what I was looking for as I learnt to ride at canter in a forest rather than just in a school. Accommodation was excellent and the guides were really good at instructing and giving tips.

This is a new and fantastic opportunity for advanced and confident riders. This is a long trail ride around the east side of the Kiskunsági National Park. This is a six night trail and will take you around the whole of the National Park, riding mostly on sand. The Kiskunság National Park is a UNESCO biosphere reserve, which comprises of seven units scattered throughout the area. Created in 1975, the park stretches across the Great Hungarian Plain and is a mosaic of plains, lakes and marshes dotted between the Danube and Tisza Rivers. Within Kiskunság National Park, there is a rich diversity of birdlife, which includes great bustard, red-footed falcon, European bee-eater, golden oriole, European roller as well as numerous herons, egrets, wildfowl and passerines.   So there is much to see on this trail.

Riders will have to groom, feed, and tack up their horses. You will be shown how to tack up Western style on the Saturday your arrive.  There will be roomy saddle bags provided for your daily requirements but your main luggage will be transferred for you and will be waiting at your guesthouse.

There are some opportunities for single rooms but riders must be prepared to share twin rooms or rooms with four beds at the first stop.

There will be two guides on this trail sometimes Robert, who many previous guests to the ranch will know already. For small group numbers there will  be one guide only.

Itinerary (please note this may change according to local conditions)

Day One:

You will arrive on Saturday. You need to arrive by 12 noon.  It is possible to arrive the previous day and there will be an additional cost for the stay. Today you will take a short test ride to check you are happy with the horse they have chosen for your abilities and that you are competent enough to make the long trail. The test ride will finish by 4 pm. For those who are not fit enough or considered experienced enough, it will be possible to stay at the ranch and ride out from there. You will enjoy a lovely dinner.

Day Two:

The trail ride starts today. Today you will ride for around 20km stopping for a picnic lunch on the way. Tonight you will stay at the Old Nice Farm. It is an opportunity to stay at a classical Hungarian farm where the village houses have thatched roofs. Here you will enjoy some pálinka tasting which is included in the price. Tonight you will taste a typical Hungarian dinner and some oven baked delicacies. There is also the opportunity to taste some delicious home made wines (these are not included and need to be paid locally).

Day Three:

After breakfast you will groom and tack up your horse and continue this lovely trail to Ballószög. You will stop for another picnic lunch which you will have picked up from the farm in the morning. Today you will ride for about 26 kms and eventually find a resting place for the horses at a western ranch. If the ranch owner is home, you will have the opportunity to see real cutting training with cows and buffalos.  From here you will leave your horse and a car will take you to the hotel where you have another lovely dinner and well earned night's sleep. The hotel tonight is Csalánosi Csárda.

Day Four:

You will return to your horses at the ranch, once again by car.  Today you will ride only about 15 kms as this day is shorter than the others.  You are heading towards your next destination which is the Kunság Major guesthouse.  As this day is shorter you will arrive at the guesthouse so you will enjoy your lunch here. The Kunság Major  has many facilities including an outdoor pool so this afternoon you can relax and enjoy the surroundings.

Day Five:

After another delicious breakfast you will groom and tack up your horse. From here you will ride onto Kunadacs where you will stay in a wooden guesthouse which also has an outdoor pool. You will have the opportunity to taste the world famous fish soup.

Day Six:

After tacking up your horse for the last time, you will mount up and ride back to El Bronco where guests can relax, enjoy the sauna or jacuzzi or even request a massage.

Riders will need to use Hungarian forints to pay for any extras as guest houses and ranches here do not accept credit cards but it will be possible to change money at El Bronco or the ATM in the nearby town. It is not necessary to purchase forints before arrival.  Water is included throughout the whole trip, at guesthouses and during the trail. Other drinks including juices, wine and alcohol are not included and have to be paid locally.
