Day 1 - Arrival
Riding: No riding.
After a long flight and drive, staff will welcome you at Tambuti and you can enjoy a refreshing drink. Depending on the time of arrival, you may be able to have an introduction to the gorgeous Arabian horses. Otherwise, you will enjoy your first safari dinner and have a safety briefing with guide Ingeborg. (Please note that you will be asked to sign indemnity and safety briefing forms).
Day 2
Riding: 4 - 5 hours
Today will be your first day on horseback and you will enjoy both a morning and an afternoon ride. In the morning you will ride out earlyish to explore the area of Ground Dam, which is a fairly open space where you will most probably see some black-faced impala, springbok, oryx, kudu and some zebra.
After returning to the stables, the grooms will be waiting. You are asked to help untack your horse. Then it’s time for a cool drink and a shower before a light lunch (salads, bread, cheeses, meats) is served. Later in the afternoon, the horses will be ready to go again. This ride may take you to the area of the Old Farm which features some soft sandy tracks, inviting a good trot and canter. After a few hours in the saddle, it’s time to get back to the stables and settle the horses for the night.
Dinner will be served after a refreshing aperitive.
Day 3
Riding: 2 - 3 hours
Today you will enjoy a long morning ride in the area of New Boma; the terrain here is typical bushveld dotted with beautiful tambuti and marula trees. A light lunch will be waiting at the lapa on your return. In the late afternoon, you will head out into the reserve by car to enjoy a typical sundowner (drinks & snacks included).
Upon your return dinner will be ready and waiting for you.
Day 4
Riding: 3 hours
After breakfast this morning, you will take another long morning ride to the "Far Post". This route takes you over a variety of terrains, passing more impressive tambuti and marula trees, as well as more bushveld landscapes. Often on this route, you might spot the tracks of visiting leopards and cheetahs in this area. Another light lunch will be served again at the lapa on your return. The afternoon is yours to enjoy a siesta, take a hike and simply relax on your stoop.
Dinner will be served in the evening.
Day 5
Riding: 4 - 5 hours
Today you will enjoy a full-day picnic ride (min. 2 persons required for this). You will depart slightly later after breakfast this morning and after spending a few hours in the saddle exploring the reserve, you will find the grooms waiting for you in the bushveld. The horses will be tied on a line and their saddles taken off (you are asked to help with this). They will then be served their well-deserved lunch before you are ready to settle down for yours.
A finely laid-out table with some light food such as salads, breads, meats, cheeses, eggs and condiments will be ready for you, along with a cool box of refreshing drinks that compliment the set-up!
Once you've enjoyed your lunch and a little rest in the shade, it's time to saddle the horses and slowly meander back to the stables. The remainder of the afternoon is at your disposal.
Dinner will be served around 7.
Day 6
Riding: 4 - 6 hours
After an early-ish start, you will be able to enjoy a few hours of riding in the area of New Boma today. Here you will hopefully spot the giraffe and several species of antelope before returning to the lapa for lunch. In the late afternoon, you will ride again in the direction of the Old Farm to enjoy some more good trots and canters and in the hope that some oryx, eland or zebra are willing to join you. The day will hopefully be rounded off by a beautiful ride back at sunset.
Dinner is served later in the evening.
Day 7
Riding: 3 hours
This morning will be another long ride over the hilly area of "Sun Post" which guides you into the Far Post area you explored earlier in the week. Here you can usually enjoy a few long trots and canters with the horses - perfect for building fitness. This area seems to be a favourite of oryx, eland and giraffes. Lunch will be served at the lapa on your return and the rest of the afternoon is free. Later, another sundowner is planned for the afternoon.
Dinner will be waiting for you once you return.
Day 8
Riding: No riding.
Time flies and unfortunately, it's time to say goodbye to the horses and the rest of the company that have hopefully made your stay special. The time of your departure is dependent on the time of your flights.
