Description

This destination is a beautiful year-round guest ranch and horse farm conveniently nestled in Central Georgia's Historic Heartland. The ranch has been named by Travel and Leisure Magazine as "One of America's Best Dude Ranches". With more than 150 quality Paint and Quarter Horses, the ranch is best known for its exceptional horse riding programme, unguided riding opportunities and peaceful setting. The ranch offers an all-inclusive riding package during which you can experience the delightful accommodation, exceptional cuisine and southern hospitality.

Horse riding is the featured activity and horses outnumber guests by more than 7 to 1 so there's sure to be a suitable horse for you. The climate in Georgia is great for riding all year round. The riding programme even allows competent riders the opportunity to ride on their own if they desire, but small guided groups are always available. Guests are encouraged to groom and help tack up their own horse for a true, hands-on, bonding experience. Whether you want to ride lazily across beautiful open pastures or trot and canter through lush wooded trails, the ranch can accommodate your needs. There are non-riding plans available with reduced rates should anyone in your group not want to give it a try.

This is a family-owned and operated ranch where more than two dozen foals are born each year. Guests have virtually unlimited opportunities to touch, photograph and interact with many of the foals and other horses and the herd can be seen grazing from the porch, deck, dining room and even the pool area. When not in the saddle, guests can enjoy relaxing by the swimming pool taking part in ranch activities such as pool, darts and mountain biking or exploring the surrounding area. The simple all-inclusive package means that you can enjoy riding twice a day, three tasty meals, comfortable accommodation and unlimited non-alcoholic drinks and snacks without the need to worry about extra costs.

The ranch's philosophy is "it can't be a horse lover's paradise if it's not a horse's paradise first."

Testimonials

Josie Ross, Oct. 20, 2018

From the moment we arrived, we both felt the tranquillity of the ranch. It's so peaceful and watching the horses freely move around in herds was just wonderful. Favourite memory - sitting on the veranda overlooking the pasture and watching a herd of horses gallop past. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Food was excellent with a good choice. Snacks and beverages available 24 hours a day. Both our horses were perfect for our experience. All the horses looked healthy and happy. We were shown how to put on a saddle/girth but the stable staff always did the bridle

Susan & Charlotte, Oct. 11, 2018

I (Susan) tried 3 different horses before settling on Ballerina, who was great - really forward going. Charlotte rode 2 horses and fell in love with Faith, her second horse, and stuck with her because she loved her sassiness. We only went with a guide on four occasions and each one was informative, friendly and adapted the ride to ability. At first not going on any trails outside the Ranch's forest in the open and seeing some countryside off ranch was a disappointment, but was countered by being allowed in the enclosed forest on our own. There was a choice of really good food available and plenty of it. Our room was large, cool and comfortable.

Michelle P., Dec. 3, 2014

Thoroughly enjoyable! Beautiful place, lovely, well-tended horses, excellent food and facilities, friendly and helpful staff. Top notch!

Itinerary & Pricing

Days 1 to 7

Riding: 4 hours

Trail rides are at 9.15 am and 2.15 pm daily. Your programme begins when you arrive for lunch at 1.00pm and you ride at 2.15 pm on the day of arrival. It is sometimes possible to ride on your departure morning, but you will have to check out of your room beforehand.

Small, guided groups are always available and riding lessons are available at an extra cost if desired. There is a large selection of Paint and Quarter Horses available at the ranch so there is bound to be a horse to suit your ability and preferences. Guests are encouraged to ride the same horse throughout their trip but this cannot be guaranteed and of course you can change horses if you would prefer to do so.

In the event that rain limits riding opportunities there is a system in place where guests can make up missed riding opportunities at the end of their stay if required, but you may need to check out of your room before joining the final morning ride. This is a super riding holiday package for those who want the simplicity of the all-inclusive riding plan, numerous opportunities to interact with lovely, homebred horses and a warm welcome with a taste of that Southern hospitality.
