Ranch Based Programme

While the ranch offers a wide variety of guest activities, its world class riding programme puts the ranch in a class of its own. The Ranch is home to over 110 head of horses that live on the ranch year round. The family own all their horses and does not lease outside horses to ensure the protection of the herd and of the riders. The herd consists of approximately 80 guest horses as well as 20 performance horses, brood mares and new foals each spring. The ranch's horse to guest ratio is over 2 to 1 allowing the ranch to select the right horse for each rider's individual ability and experience level. The  riding programme was developed and is managed directly by the Beckley family. The riding is always available but not mandatory and some guests like to ride every day whilst others may prefer just to ride two or three times a week.

The rides are offered every morning and every afternoon. Options include family rides, adult rides, kids' rides, walking rides and also fast rides for the more experienced in the saddle. No other location in the world offers such a superb combination of great horses, beautiful riding terrain and the seasoned experience of world class horsemen. Children of all ages will feel at home at this ranch where they can enjoy wide open spaces and run around in a safe environment making a lovely atmosphere for both children and adults. The kids programme is designed to keep kids and teens busy all day long and well into the night. Children must be aged 6 or older to take part in the family oriented kids riding and activities programme. Programmes are devised so families can go on family rides, hike together and even river raft as a group. Alternatively though, kids are welcome to join the riding programme while adults choose another activity or adults only ride. The ranch is small and highly staffed to allow tailor  made experiences for every member of the family.

The horses range from "bomb proof" kids' horses all the way through to young horses suitable for experienced riders. So, whether you're an old hand or someone who needs a helping hand, you can be sure to enjoy your time in the saddle. Your horse will be just that - YOUR horse for the week. He will be ready and waiting for you every morning of your stay, along with the saddle that suits you most. The first rides leave the corrals right after breakfast and return for lunch. Afternoon rides leave the corrals between 1.00 and 1.30 pm.  Fast rides are available to experienced riders after one full day of riding at the Ranch.  Once weekly, an all-day ride is offered. An early breakfast ride is also offered once a week (weather permitting), where you can enjoy your hot breakfast on the trail. The ranch is set in the crown of the continent with over 75,000 acres to roam there is virtually no end of possibilities for you to explore.

The ranch is nestled up against the mountains with the St. Mary's River running on the edge of the property, to the North.  Perry Creek and the Perry Creek Valley run to the West where the ranch cattle run on open range for the summer. Whether you prefer a high mountain lookout or a cool afternoon ride by the river, you are sure to lose yourself in this this remarkable landscape.

With a degree in agriculture and a rodeo background, Jeff has always been part of the cowboy lifestyle and he trains reining horses for Beckley Reining, where you will find him most mornings. Guests are welcome to watch as he and his horses prepare for the international show circuit. Jeff and Jesse often give an evening reining demonstration once a week, but this is not guaranteed. You will be amazed what the horses are capable of.
