Description

This exclusive riding destination in Wiltshire offers scenic hacks on their much-loved hunters and show ponies. Guests have access to 7500 acres of riding on the privately-owned Rushmore Estate, as well as miles of bridleways, going out in small groups of no more than four (plus an experienced guide). Riding abilities are not mixed and routes can be tailored to suit your preferences, for example if you have an interest in history then there are several fascinating trails - the area is the source of tales dating back to King John and you may even see a ghost! The woodlands and open fields offer varied riding terrain and guests who wish to are able to trot and canter along the way.

Angie and her daughter Clare are very proud of their horses who are treated as part of the family. Their tack is customised to them and a saddle fitter visits several times a year to ensure the fit and comfort. The horses also receive massages whenever it can benefit them and whilst stabled overnight they have spacious turnout fields, locally-grown forage and regular feeds. This is an excellent destination for those looking to enjoy some beautiful riding country on a smart, well-behaved mount before relaxing in comfortable accommodation and peaceful surroundings. You can also treat yourself to a massage on site if you're feeling a little stiff - Clare is a qualified massage therapist.

Food & Accommodation

Food

Your hostess Angie provides daily breakfasts. On the longer programme she includes a two course dinner each day. Simple provisions for lunch can also be provided but you are welcome to go out for lunch or to bring some supplies of your own. Occasionally during a longer ride you may stop at the pub, a tea house or even at Clare's house across the fields for a bite to eat. Breakfasts (and lunch provisions) include things like bread, butter, jam and cereals.

Tea, coffee, juice, water are included and guests are encouraged to take their own drinks to suit their preferences.

Accommodation

There are two guest rooms in the main house, sharing a main bathroom, and a private cabin in the garden. One room in the house can be either a twin or a double room whilst the other is a single room. The house is extremely comfortable, clean and tidy and guests are asked to remove their boots and leave those and riding jackets at the door or in the tack room. Of course you are welcome to pack some slippers!

The cabin can also be a twin or double but can actually be arranged to sleep three or four if needed. It features a small living area, kitchenette and shower room and enjoys the peace of the garden whilst being just a stone's throw from the stables. Dressing gowns are provided for your comfort and a massage table can be set up in the cabin if you fancy treating yourself.

Meals are served in the dining room in the house.

Four Night Break Standard accommodation.

Travel

We recommend for you to travel by car when possible, but your hostess Angie can organise transport from and to Salisbury train station for a small additional cost.

Testimonials

Angela F., Aug. 1, 2023

It was excellent. The horses were fabulous, Well mannered and high quality. Just what we wanted. Angela really looked after us and tailored the riding to our level of expertise and interest. She was also a great host and feed us lots of lovely food.

Cathy A., May 17, 2022

Excellent holiday. Great hospitality, accommodation and meals provided by Angie. Rides all excellent. Angie was very good, professional, caring but encouraging too. (Favourite memory?) Cantering up a lovely open field on Tamara with Angie!

Lisa and Emily, April 19, 2022

We absolutely loved our time with Angie, her family and her WONDERFUL horses. You feel very much part of the family, and you’re in such beautiful surroundings. We sat and ate cake while watching newborn lambs play, and rode every day in ancient woodlands. The horses are gorgeous. I completely fell in love with Rocky, the gentle giant, and my daughter loved Merlin. It was a very special weekend. 10 out of 10.

Day 2

Riding: 2 hours

After breakfast you'll be ready for another two hour ride. The route will depend on the guests' experience and preferences but could be through the woods, meadows and valleys or perhaps with a stop at the pub (the horses are all pub trained!) or a break en-route for afternoon tea.

Day 3
