Description

In the idyllic Levante hills of Mallorca lies this beautiful Finca (farm) which is dedicated to the riding and breeding of spectacular Spanish horses. The Finca offers tuition and trail rides and guests can also enjoy some memorable dressage lessons on magnificent stallions. This is a wonderful location in which to enjoy the peaceful Mallorcan countryside, a setting which has open fields, pine forests, sandy tracks and beautiful coastal views. The Finca is German owned and run.

Surrounded by natural beauty, the comfortable and rustic-style country house has all the necessary facilities for a relaxing and unforgettable holiday. The house is a 20-minute drive from two pretty natural beaches and just a 5-minute car journey from the town of Felanitx, where you will find a traditional Sunday market, considered one of the best in Mallorca. The restaurant serves Mediterranean food and meals are provided on the terrace when the summer sun is shining.

There are several programmes available here including a dressage programme working with the Andalusian stallions (which can also include work with young horses), a week flatwork and jumping lessons, a programme designed specifically for beginners, as well as an "a la carte" tailor made riding stay where you can choose between full day rides, short trails or dressage and jumping lessons (both individual private or group sessions with up to 5 or 6 other riders). At the Finca, following a satisfying ride, guests can relax on the pool terrace or enjoy a refreshing swim before a traditional Mallorcan dinner.

**Please Note: all guests over the age of 16 will be required to pay a c.2€ (EUR) per night Balearic tourist tax at the end of their stay. This is due to new laws set out by the Balearic government to help maintain the natural beauty of the island.

Subject to opening times, there is a spa available for guests offering Turkish baths, saunas and a cyclone shower. Guests must provide 24 hours notice at reception if they wish to use the spa facilities.

Travel

Transfers can be arranged from Palma Airport to the resort at additional cost. The journey takes approximately one hour. All transfers are to be paid locally but we will organise them for you if required when we receive your flight details.

Testimonials

Emily H., July 30, 2021

An amazing holiday with beautiful horses, tailored instruction and a great setting up in the foothills of Mallorca on a Vineyard with excellent food. The accommodation was very modern, clean and most importantly great air conditioning! The food was excellent and cooked by local ladies using farm produce. The wine grown on their site is superb too.

Jane C., Jan. 25, 2019

A very different kind of riding holiday for me. I have done umpteen trail rides and this is the first time I have done a centre based holiday. The resort is a lovely place. Very Spanish with beautiful art sculpture in the grounds. Good facilities. rooms were clean with great views from the balconies over the fields, vineyards and riding schools. Lovely terrace to sit our and sine in the evenings. Food was generally good too. We drank their red wine - a little pricey at 16 euros a bottle but very tasty. Very nice relaxed atmosphere and staff were mega friendly and helpful. (Favourite memory?) Riding the Stallions was the most brilliant part of the holiday and I would definitely go back for more. Absolute privilege. So kind, responsive and powerful.

Helen N., Nov. 25, 2015

Loved every minute of the holiday. After 30 years of riding, this was my first holiday involving horses and I am now hooked! (Favourite memories?) Too many to mention, but the long trails and seeing an island I know so well on horseback. The food and accommodation was excellent. (Our guide) Joe knew the island so well and cared for the horses at all times. I loved Avis (my horse) and the way in which the staff looked after the horses was second to none. Far and Ride were very good - Natalie provided all the information & was extremely helpful.

Lorraine K., Nov. 2, 2015

Super horses, well cared for, well behaved. Well planned out itinerary. very well organised, everything ran like clockwork, varied terrain.

Nansi S., Dec. 3, 2014

It was an incredible experience from beginning to end. Amazing island, amazing horses and new friends!

Lesley A., Oct. 28, 2014

I have been on other riding holidays and this beat them all hands down. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and will definitely be going back. (Favourite memory?) Quite a few - cantering through the pine forests and down the tracks; fantastic picnic lunches with swimming in the sea; lovely evenings on the terrace. The room was spotless and comfortable. Food was fresh, beautifully cooked and delicious. I liked the two horses I rode a lot. They were sure-footed and I felt safe with them. The guide was very patient and very friendly. He also gave a lot of good and useful advice on riding. I felt very well looked after and in safe hands.

Day 1

Riding: No riding.

Arrival at the farm for dinner and overnight.

Day 2

Riding: 2 hours

On arrival at the equestrian centre, you will be provided with a detailed schedule for your riding activities throughout your stay. Your week may look as follows;

In the morning there will be a one hour lesson and in the afternoon a one-hour trail ride. These are predominantly a chance for the instructors to assess your riding level and ensure they have chosen the right horses for you, but will also be your first opportunity to discover the beautiful landscape around Son Negre.

Days 3 to 7

Riding: 5 - 3 hours

During these days you will have three full-day rides and then one day free to explore the delights of Mallorca out of the saddle. Dependent on availability. it may be possible to book extra riding at the equestrian centre during this day. You may choose a dressage lesson (1 hour), a jumping lesson (1.5 hours) or a short hack (2 hours).

The three full day trails are all rides to monasteries - Sant Salvador, Consolacio and Montission. They vary in duration but are generally around 5.5 - 6.5 hours of riding time each day and require a transfer by car to reach the start point. Here is an example itinerary for the Sant Salvador ride (car transfer is approximately 35 minutes):

After having prepared the horses at the Finca (farm) you will leave for the Finca of 'Binifarda' which lies below the Santueri Castle and is made up of beautiful orange gardens. This is the fourth largest Finca in Mallorca. Before reaching the castle you will pass by an archaeological study where historians hope to confirm the field as the birthplace of Christopher Columbus!

After enjoying some wonderful panoramic views you will ride up the mountains of Sant Salvador following trails which have been etched into the rock. There is a point where you will have to walk and lead your horse for approximately 25 minutes. At the top, you will meet up with the support team and can tie the horses for a rest whilst you explore the monastery and its church. This is followed by a tasty brunch in the pine woods.

Once you've finished eating it's time to tack the horses up again and begin your descent towards the Son Duri farm, a trail which will take you back through beautiful woodlands to 'Es Fanger' and then 'S'Espinagar', the finishing point of the riding route. You will be transferred back to the main finca for dinner and overnight.

NB. In November it is possible to add a beach ride to Es Trenc on payment of a supplement, meaning four days of trail rides. The beach is about 20mins away by vehicle and you ride along the white sands and through trails in the bush. There is c. 4 hrs of riding including canters along the beach.

Day 8

Riding: No riding.

One last breakfast in the sunshine and then a sad farewell and departure to the airport.
