In the idyllic Levante hills of Mallorca lies this beautiful Finca (farm) which is dedicated to the riding and breeding of spectacular Spanish horses. The Finca offers tuition and trail rides and guests can also enjoy some memorable dressage lessons on magnificent stallions. This is a wonderful location in which to enjoy the peaceful Mallorcan countryside, a setting which has open fields, pine forests, sandy tracks and beautiful coastal views.
Surrounded by natural beauty, the comfortable and rustic-style country house has all the necessary facilities for a relaxing and unforgettable holiday. The house is a 20-minute drive from two pretty natural beaches and just 5 kilometres from the town of Felanitx, where you will find a traditional Sunday market, considered one of the best in Mallorca. The restaurant serves Mediterranean food and meals are provided on the terrace when the summer sun is shining.
There are several programmes available here including a dressage programme working with the Andalusian stallions (which can also include work with young horses), a week flatwork and jumping lessons, a programme designed specifically for beginners, as well as an "a la carte" tailor made riding stay where you can choose between full day rides, short trails or dressage and jumping lessons (both individual private or group sessions with up to 5 or 6 other riders). At the Finca, following a satisfying ride, guests can relax on the pool terrace or enjoy a refreshing swim before a traditional Mallorcan dinner.
**Please Note: all guests will be required to pay a 1€ (EUR) per night Balearic tourist tax at the end of their stay. This is due to new laws set out by the Balearic government.

The farmhouse itself boasts bedrooms, each decorated in the traditional Mallorcan style and with their own bathroom. There is also a swimming pool with typical Mallorcan terrace and sunbeds to relax on.All guest rooms have a bathroom, air conditioning, satellite TV, minibar, fan, safety deposit box, central heating and a telephone.
Guests will have the choice to book either a rustic standard room or one of the newly renovated superior rooms for their holiday. There are five new superior rooms in total and these offer much more space, a modern design, private balconies, as well as fabulous views over the terrace, pool and vineyards beyond. Each room will be sold as twin/doubles as standard (unless single room supplement is paid), but can comfortably accommodate up to 4 guests in extra beds.
A Junior Suite is the most luxurious room with soft bathrobes, spacious armchairs and a Nespresso coffee machine.
The restaurant here serves delicious Mediterranean food and during the summer months, dinner is served outside on the terrace. Barbeque facilities are provided in the garden and a barbeque style meal is served once per week. Dietary requirements such as vegetarians can be catered for and children's meals are available.
At the reception, you can arrange to hire cars or bikes to tour the area. There are several typical Mallorquin markets nearby (most running weekends and one on a Wednesday) and these are fascinating to visit.
Trips to Cabrera Island can also be arranged and there are several natural and untouched beaches to visit nearby. Guests can also enjoy an 18 hole golf course close to this destination.
Subject to opening times, there is a spa available for guests offering Turkish baths, saunas and a cyclone shower. Guests must provide 24 hours notice at reception if they wish to use the spa facilities.

This programme includes a lesson and a hack on Monday, three full day rides and then one day when you can choose a dressage lesson, a jumping lesson or a hack. Sunday: Arrival at the farm for dinner and overnight. Monday: In the morning there will be a one hour lesson and in the afternoon a one-hour trail ride. These are predominantly a chance for the instructors to assess your riding level and ensure they have chosen the right horses for you, but will also be your first opportunity to discover the beautiful landscape around Son Negre. Tuesday - Saturday: During these days you will have three full day rides and then one day during which you can choose a dressage lesson (1 hour), a jumping lesson (1.5 hours) or a hack (2 hours). The three full day trails are all rides to monasteries - Sant Salvador, Consolacio and Montission. They vary in duration but are generally around 5.5 - 6.5 hours of riding time each day and require a transfer by car to reach the start point. Here is an example itinerary for the Sant Salvador ride (car transfer is approximately 35 minutes): After having prepared the horses at the Finca (farm) you will leave for the Finca of 'Binifarda' which lies below the Santueri Castle and is made up of beautiful orange gardens. This is the fourth largest Finca in Mallorca. Before reaching the castle you will pass by an archaeological study where historians hope to confirm the field as the birthplace of Christopher Columbus! After enjoying some wonderful panoramic views you will ride up the mountains of Sant Salvador following trails which have been etched into the rock. There is a point where you will have to walk and lead your horse for approximately 25 minutes. At the top, you will meet up with the support team and can tie the horses for a rest whilst you explore the monastery and its church. This is followed by a tasty brunch in the pine woods. Once you've finished eating it's time to tack the horses up again and begin your descent towards the Son Duri farm, a trail which will take you back through beautiful woodlands to 'Es Fanger' and then 'S'Espinagar', the finishing point of the riding route. You will be transferred back to the main finca for dinner and overnight. Sunday: One last breakfast in the sunshine and then a sad farewell and departure to the airport. NB. In November it is possible to add a beach ride to Es Trenc on payment of a supplement, meaning four days of trail rides. The beach is about 20mins away by vehicle and you ride along the white sands and through trails in the bush. There is c. 4 hrs of riding including canters along the beach. |
