Description

This rhythmic new ride is a week trail from Koyceyiz to Gocek, passing by Dalyan, and follows along the spectacular Mediterranean coast and around Koycegiz Lake. Riders will canter on endurance Arabians overlooking the magnificent waters of the blue sea and will have many opportunities to swim with and without their horses. The ride is offered by our partners Nico and Helene who organise our rides in Cappadocia and Antalya - this option will appeal to those of you who love the coast and to swim, but also to those who have ridden on our other Turkish trails and who would like to be reunited with this team on a different route.

The ride is based along the southern coast of Turkey, in the province of Mugla, and offers you a range of landscapes including the seaside, Gocek Islands, forests with many species of tree, dust tracks (ideal for cantering), steep paths, networks of canals, the lake reeds of Koyceyiz, quiet beaches, the historical site of Kaunos, river crossings and the famous Dalyan lagoon.

This is a brisk-paced itinerary and riders must be confident, competent and fit to ride long hours and to hike on mountain paths. There are chances to swim everyday (some with your horse), in the sea, in the lake and in the hot water sources of Sultaniye. There are many canters in the forests and scenic walks on ancient paths or by flowering villages. There are some mountainous stretches where you will need to hike and lead your horse - good boots are essential!
